Call for Candidates: Student Network Director
Young, Dynamic, Student Leader Wanted
At this time, we are seeking a Student Network Director to construct and lead a dynamic team of campus representatives from around the nation, to conduct a vital effort to invigorate and expand the Roots of Hope student network. In leading this team, the Student Network Director will serve as the point person for facilitating collaboration among student groups nation-wide and mobilizing the network for extraordinary initiatives that require large-scale support. Attracting students with executive level campus leadership experience is crucial to Raices' future as a student-centered movement. This person will be entrusted with building a spirited team to represent and inspire students across the country toward action supporting youth in Cuba. The ideal candidate for this role will have a leadership style that empowers his/her leadership team to work together as a cohesive unit to accomplish goals and objectives collectively.
About 70 percent of current Raices Trustees and Directors served in executive positions in student organizations and you could be next in line!
Roles and Responsibilities
- Collaboratively develop a strategic vision for a student network with a team of student leaders at campuses around the country
- Facilitate collaboration, coordination and communication among affiliated student groups on projects and programming
- Develop and manage practical systems to ensure communication and cooperation between campus groups and campus leaders
- Serve on RDE's Management Team
- Serve as the central point of contact for all RDE activities on a collegiate level and liaise between the student network and RDE's Management Team
- Participate in one-on-one leadership trainings and coaching sessions with other leaders in Roots of Hope
Qualifications
- Executive level experience leading a Cuban-American student organization or similar affinity group on a major university campus
- Have a strong, established network of Cuban-American student leaders throughout the country
- Possess a wealth of knowledge of the Cuban context
- Exhibit a commitment to developing a culture of collaboration and trust
- Be a self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit
- Experience or high interest in strategic team management, including motivation and accountability
- Demonstrate a desire to enhance leadership and team-building skills
- Character reflects the core values of Raices: Hope, Dignity, Humility, Compassion and Smart Passion
- Professionally Bilingual - English and Spanish

Fellowship de Verano
LEADERSHIP FELLOWSHIP
(Summer 2010)National Search, 2 spots
Commitment: at least 10 weeks, at least 40 hrs/week
Location: Raices' new office, South Beach, Florida
Reporting to: Chairman and/or Director
Compensation: Unpaid; Raices will subsidize travel to and from Miami (if needed) and parking 
This is an intense leadership-in-practice training. We will expose you to influential mentors and coaches, from Raices Senior Leadership team to some of Miami's most respected business, political, community, and artistic leaders. You will complete projects across all of Raices' departments, thus giving you an insider's grasp of our heartbeat and a chance to create some real impact in our organization.
Departments:
- Development: Fund raising and Partnership building
- Programming: Developing and implementing academic and cultural projects
- Operations: Coordinating internal logistics, product development, graphics and web development, and administrative support
- Student Network: University and high school student relationship building and engagement
- YP Network: Young professional and alumni relationship building and engagement
- Communications: Messaging, media relations, new media, publicity

SUMMER INTERNSHIP (Summer 2010)
National Search, 15-30 spots
Commitment: at least 10 weeks, at least 10 hrs/week
Location: Anywhere in the country
Reporting to: Director of Department, or person designated by the Chairman and/or Director
Compensation: 100% Volunteer
Eligibility: Anyone can apply, except current members of Raices' management team.

The internship program is now the main vehicle by which to join the Raices Management Team. It is meant to pair you up with a role that matches your interests and our needs as closely as possible. You will be given clear goals to complete by the end of the internship. We will continually evaluate you during your internship and, depending on your level involvement and results by the end of the program, we will make you a formal offer to form part of our management team.
All internship candidates apply to the same pool of opportunities. Department and role assignments will be decided together by the candidate and Raices Directors throughout the application process.
